Have a Fulfilling life By: Lynn Bradley Making resolutions is often thought of around the first of the year. Planning to improve yourself is good at any time. Nothing can be accomplished without setting specific goals and sticking to them. Everyone desires to have a fulfilling life, but few get around to developing plans for it. This article gives a few things you should consider. You have permission to publish it. Determine what your purpose in life is Determination of a chief purpose separates the fulfilled from the unfulfilled. It is starting on a journey without knowing where you are going without this step. You will drift like a cork in the ocean without it. Narrow down specifically what you want to accomplish. Write it down and put it where you will see it often. Set a time to obtain what you desire and the methods you will use to get there. Plan short time reachable goals to eventually reach your long range one. Reward yourself when you reach them. This will build confidence and make you have a great feeling about yourself. Pursue your dream Knowing how you plan to accomplish your purpose defines what your dream is. What do you want to do more than anything else? You should envision how it will feel when you have it. It must be something you enjoy, do well, and have a passion for. Explore professions that interest you and get the training needed. It is advisable to work with someone experienced in your field to learn the tricks of the trade. When starting something new, there are always many questions you need answered. Working with a mentor will permit hitting the ground running and advancing quickly. This is especially true if you plan to start your own business. Develop the proper attitude about yourself To be successful and fulfill your dreams you must feel good about yourself and what you are doing. Without self confidence you will be tempted to give up every time a difficult task comes along. You must have the feeling that you can handle anything that comes up. This is more likely to happen if you are in a field that you enjoy and one that comes naturally for you. Having knowledge of your field and working with experienced people, will build confidence. Learn to be content with where you are in life Having contentment does not mean that you do not try to improve yourself. It simply means that you realize that your goals will take some time to obtain and that you are content to take it a day at a time. You can be content with slow progress, knowing that it requires patience and persistence to develop your skill. Analyze your progress often and get advice from someone experienced on how to improve what you are having trouble with. Do not compromise your standards Never do anything against your belief system. It could cause you to think less of yourself. No situation is worth degrading your character. Avoid filthy language and being immoral. That will make you look unprofessional without high standards. It could cause you to be passed by for a promotion and destroy your self respect. Relax with hobbies and friends with good morals There is more to life than eating, sleeping and working. That is merely existing. When you leave work, you need to forget about it. Find hobbies that you enjoy. This will take your mind off work so you will be fresh when you go back on duty. Select friends carefully, since they have a great influence on you. Avoid those with bad morals and heavy drinkers. Spend time with upbeat people who are moving up the ladder. Stay away from losers that are always making excuses for their failures. You need someone bigger than you are to lean on It does not matter how skilled and independent you are, there are going to be situations that you cannot find the answer for. Religious people with strong faith are some of the happiest there are because they can take their roadblocks to the Lord and find relief. Those who reject religion become their own god, but they have no place to go to when they reach the end of their rope. Knowing that you have the support of the Creator of the universe will give you a good feeling about yourself.
