Can a Dog Teach Us How To Love By: Frank Gasiorowski What I learned about Love and being a better person came from Molly, my dog. Molly arrived into our life one day when my daughter, Dawn, returned from her vacation. She came into our house with a cardboard box and something was moving inside of it. Dawn said, ?Look what I found along the side of the road. Oh no, I said, not another animal. You see, Dawn has a way of finding strays. This type of thing has happened more than once. I looked into the box and saw a very little golden puppy that was about the size of my hand. Dawn told us that someone had left this box with several other puppies in it along the side of the road. Her friend in North Carolina took the rest of them. They were all male except one. This one was abandoned because no one wanted the female. Yes, you guessed it, Dawn would save her. We named our new puppy, Molly. We purchased a doggie carrier, cleaned, fed and watered the puppy everyday. Each day this puppy would get bigger and bigger and even bigger. Until one day, when we opened the carrier door, two big paws plopped out. Molly had grown too large to fit her old home. As it turned out, Molly was becoming a wonderful dog. She is half Shepard and half Labrador mixed. My wife has wanted a ?Yeller? dog since we traveled in New England many years ago. The yellow colored dogs seemed to be all over that part of the country. Our dog Molly, is a woman?s dog. She is unassuming, will give up anything that she has if you want it, sweet as honey, giving and caring. I would watch her and see how I could become the person that I want to be by being more like this dog. Loving, giving, caring, trusting, sweet, kind and generous are just some of the terms that I would use to describe our Molly. A day does not go by that I don?t take some time to watch Molly be herself and give out her pure Love. If a dog can do this why can?t humans? I have made it my mission to be more like Molly everyday. If Mother Nature can give this much Love to a dog than that purity of Love is available to all of us. I find answers in Nature and in my Heart. Can a dog teach us how to Love? Yes, is the definitely the answer?
