Indulge In a Day Spa to Relieve Stress
By: Melissa Steele

Considered by many to be a mini-vacation, a weekly trip to the day spa can be just what you need to manage and reduce your stress levels. On top of being relaxing and pleasurable, massage, along with the other services offered at most day spas, is one of the best ways to reduce stress levels and learn to control stress throughout the week.

For starters, massage is relaxing and stress-relieving. Additionally, it improves blood circulation and physical health, which can make you feel more energized during the workweek. The same is true for other general spa services. Getting a facial, spending fifteen minutes in a sauna, or having your scalp massaged before you visit the salon can melt away all of your worries about work and home stresses for at least the amount of time you spend being pampered.

On top of their mini-vacation luxuries, many spas also offer classes that are meant to help you learn how to deal with stress and relax on your own. Yoga, tai chi, and meditation classes are often held at spas in an effort to get people to learn how to escape their constant worry and concern over their problems. Additionally, many spas employ guest speakers to come and speak to clients on stress management techniques.

Another method of stress relief commonly used at a day spa is aromatherapy. Certain aromatherapy scents are designed to alter the transmission of brain chemicals that cause stress. The presence of these scents causes the reduction of stress. Aromatherapy is commonly used at day spas.

Many day spas also offer weight-loss and fitness counseling services. Because weight-concern is such a high cause of stress, many people feel less stressed when they know that they're taking better care of themselves. Additionally, exercise and healthy eating lead to better physical health and, in turn, better mental health.

Some people choose to utilize the stress-relieving benefits of a day spa weekly, some prefer a yearly trip to a destination spa, and some simply spend an afternoon at a day spa on occasion when they can't afford a regular vacation and they need a break. A trip to a day spa can be just the break a person needs when a vacation is out of the question. Regardless of how often you visit a day spa, you can benefit emotionally by indulging yourself in the stress-relieving benefits of a day spa.
