Time Management Online The Importance of Simply Doing the Work By: Sean Mize One of the hardest things online is simply getting the job done. You are working at home, online, where there are multiple distractions. There is no boss to whom you report. There is no deadline for when you have to have things done. You are on your own. And a lot of times, for a lot of people that much freedom is not good. You sit down to work online and three hours later, you have answered your email, written one article, submitted it, surfed the web for awhile ? but you have done nothing of real consequence, at least not enough to justify three hours of work. Sometimes you simply have to decide that you are going to do one thing of importance, write a report, send out 100 emails to potential email swap partners, write 10 articles, whatever, and then simply do it ? at the expense of everything else. Will you feel more satisfied at the end of the day if you have written 10 articles and submitted them, or if you answered every email? One of the most frustrating things for me when I am working is the notification on my computer screen everytime I get a new email. Sometimes, I am going into my email program 30 times in an hour, if that is how many times I am getting emails. And that really slows me down when I am writing. So one thing I will do is close my email programs, and just work. And then several hours later, I can respond to all the emails in ten minutes, and I have all the work done that I set out to do.
